چکیده

Abstract The goal of this work is to evaluate the potential diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings on thermoplastic polymers for friction and wear reduction in highly stressed rolling–sliding contacts. Therefore, hydrogen-containing DLC were deposited polymer surface by a low-temperature high power pulsed magnetron sputtering (HPPMS) physical vapor deposition (PVD) process. rolling-sliding contact between coated polyamide 66 (PA66) or polyether ether ketone (PEEK) against case-hardened steel 16MnCr5 investigated twin-disk tribometer at normal loads up F N = 1,000 N, sum velocities 1 m/s ? v ? 16 slip ratios s 50%. Results show with application considered compared uncoated under specific lubrication conditions. High solid losses caused polymer’s internal damping properties dominate temperature behavior polymer, even when DLC. Regarding behavior, especially severe mixed conditions high-solid load portion sliding. knowledge gained about can be used improve overall tribological performance terms machine elements like gears.

Tribological behaviors of several polymer–polymer sliding combinations under dry friction and oil-lubricated conditions

The friction and wear properties of polyamide 66 (PA66), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sliding against hemselves under dry sliding and oil-lubricated conditions were studied by using a pin-on-disc tribometer. The effect of applied load and sliding peed on tribological behaviors of the polymer–polymer sliding combinations under dry sliding and oil-lubricated cond...

Potential of improving tribological performance of UHMWPE by engineering the Ti6Al4V counterfaces

Recently, some novel surface engineering techniques have been developed, which may be used for extending lifetime of artificial joints; however, the full potential will not be realised until the tribological behaviour of surface engineered bio-medical materials has been fully characterised. In the present investigation, a pin-on-disc tribometer has been used to evaluate the tribological respons...

Onset of frictional sliding of rubber–glass contact under dry and lubricated conditions

Rubber friction is critical in many applications ranging from automotive tyres to cylinder seals. The process where a static rubber sample transitions to frictional sliding is particularly poorly understood. The experimental and simulation results in this paper show a completely different detachment process from the static situation to sliding motion under dry and lubricated conditions. The res...

Sliding lubricated anisotropic rough surfaces.

The object of this paper is to study the effects of lubricant film flow, pressurized and sheared between two parallel rough surfaces in sliding motion. The influence of microscopic surface roughness on lubricant film flow macroscopic behavior is described through five nondimensional parameters called flow factors. These macroscopic transport parameters are related to the local geometry of apert...

The Behavior of Indentation Marks in Rolling–Sliding Elastohydrodynamically Lubricated Contacts

Indentation marks in rolling–sliding contacts are known to increase the risk of failures in heavily loaded elastohydrodynamically lubricated contacts found in machine elements, like gears and rolling bearings. In this article, literature is discussed showing the different hypotheses available to explain the interaction of sliding with the indentation marks, in both gears and rolling bearings. W...
